Crestwood Herb Garden
Crestwood Herb Garden
In Visalia, California there is a wonderful herb garden located on the campus of Crestwood School. Twenty years ago students, teachers, and parents created this special place for everyone to enjoy. A wide variety of seasonal flowers, shrubs, and a Bay tree welcome visitors throughout the year.
The Crestwood herb garden is a rectangle that measures 16x42 feet. A sidewalk made of square red pavers divides the garden into two planting areas. Eighteen round red pavers create a meandering pathway across the entire length of the garden. Smaller pathways lead to a tall rose tree, wind around the Bay tree, and travel through the spearmint garden. The sidewalk and pathways invite children to visit every area of the garden without disturbing the soil and growing areas. Teachers often take their classes through the garden as they walk toward the library or computer lab.
